Georges Seurat

Georges Seurat (1859–1891) was a French painter who developed a systematic technique of painting with small dots of color and created A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

Pointillism: A painting technique that builds images from small, distinct dots of color. Seurat became its best-known practitioner, applying dots systematically in major canvases.
