Geostrategy is the study and practice of shaping political and military strategy around geographic factors such as location, terrain, resources, and access. It links spatial conditions to the pursuit of power and security.

Political geography: The study of how political processes and institutions shape, and are shaped by, geographic space. It supplies the spatial framework geostrategy uses to analyze states, borders, and regions.
Lines of communication: Routes used to move forces, supplies, and information between strategic locations. Their security and capacity determine whether a strategy can be sustained across distance.
