Geraniol

Geraniol is a naturally occurring monoterpenoid alcohol with a rose-like scent. It occurs in essential oils and is used in fragrances and flavorings.

Monoterpenoid: A terpenoid built from two isoprene units, typically containing ten carbon atoms. Geraniol is an oxygen-containing member of this ten-carbon family.
Geranyl pyrophosphate: A ten-carbon allylic diphosphate that serves as a precursor to many monoterpenes. Geraniol synthases form geraniol by removing diphosphate from this precursor.
Perfume: A mixture of fragrant materials designed to impart a scent to the body or surroundings. Geraniol contributes a rose-like note to many perfume compositions.
