German invasion of Greece

The Axis campaign in which Nazi Germany invaded Greece beginning on 6 April 1941. It ended with the conquest of mainland Greece and the occupation of the country by German, Italian, and Bulgarian forces.

Operation Marita: The German military operation to invade Greece in 1941. Its plans and execution defined the invasion’s main phases.
Greco-Italian War: The war between Greece and Italy from October 1940 to April 1941, fought mainly in Albania and Greece. Greek resistance to Italy prompted Germany to intervene and secure the Axis position in the Balkans.
Georgios Tsolakoglou: A Greek general who signed the armistice with Germany in April 1941 and later headed a collaborationist government. His surrender negotiations helped end organized Greek resistance on the mainland.
