Gerty Cori

Gerty Cori was an Austrian-American biochemist whose research on carbohydrate metabolism earned her the 1947 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Carl Ferdinand Cori and Bernardo Houssay.

Cori cycle: The metabolic cycle in which lactate produced by muscles travels to the liver and is converted back into glucose. This cycle names the glucose–lactate exchange central to the Coris' research.
Carl Ferdinand Cori: An Austrian-American biochemist who shared the 1947 Nobel Prize with Gerty Cori and Bernardo Houssay. He was Gerty Cori's husband and long-term research collaborator.
