Getúlio Vargas

Getúlio Vargas was a Brazilian politician who led the country from 1930 to 1945 and again from 1951 until his death in 1954. His rule combined centralized authority, labor reforms, and state-led industrialization.

Brazilian labor law: The body of Brazilian law governing employment relations and workers’ rights. Vargas’s labor policies culminated in the 1943 Consolidation of Labor Laws.
Brazilian Revolution of 1930: The armed movement that ended Brazil’s First Republic and brought Vargas to power. This revolt installed Vargas as provisional president after the election dispute of 1930.
