Giganotosaurus

Giganotosaurus is a genus of large carcharodontosaurid theropod dinosaurs known from fossils found in Argentina. It lived during the Late Cretaceous, about 99 million years ago.

Carcharodontosauridae: A family of large predatory theropod dinosaurs that lived mainly during the Cretaceous. Giganotosaurus belongs to this family of large-bodied predators.
Giganotosaurus carolinii: The type and only formally recognized species of the genus Giganotosaurus. This species is the basis for the genus's anatomy and identification.
