Globalization of music is the cross-border circulation and transformation of musical styles, recordings, performers, and industries through migration, media, trade, and technology.

Music recording: The capture and preservation of musical performance as a reproducible sound document. Recordings let performances circulate far beyond the places and occasions where they were made.
Reggae: A Jamaican popular music genre developed in the late 1960s, marked by offbeat rhythms and bass-centered arrangements. Its international reach spread Jamaican sounds and political messages through records and live performance.
Phonograph: An early device that recorded and reproduced sound from grooved media. Sound recording made music portable and commercially reproducible across distance.
