Goggles

Goggles are close-fitting eyewear that shield the eyes from hazards, environmental conditions, or water while preserving vision.

Protective eyewear: Eyewear designed to reduce injury or exposure to hazards affecting the eyes. Goggles are a close-fitting form of protective eyewear.
Swim goggles: Goggles designed to protect the eyes and improve underwater vision while swimming. They use water-resistant seals and lenses suited to pool or open-water use.
Goggle seal: The interface between a goggle frame and the face that limits entry of surrounding material. The seal is the main barrier against water, dust, or splashes entering around the lenses.
Face shield: A transparent barrier worn in front of the face to protect against splashes, particles, or other hazards. Unlike goggles, it covers the face but does not seal closely around the eyes.
Polycarbonate: A transparent, impact-resistant thermoplastic used in lenses and protective equipment. Its impact resistance makes it a common lens material for protective goggles.
Safety glasses: Protective eyewear with lenses and side coverage that usually leaves a gap around the face. They are a less enclosed alternative when a full goggle seal is unnecessary.
Ultraviolet radiation: Electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths shorter than visible light and longer than X-rays. Some goggle lenses filter ultraviolet radiation that can damage the eyes.
Sunglasses: Eyewear that reduces visible brightness and often filters ultraviolet radiation. Sunglasses usually do not provide the close seal or impact protection of goggles.
Anti-fog coating: A surface treatment that reduces the formation of light-scattering condensation droplets. It helps preserve clear vision when warm, moist air meets cooler goggle lenses.
Chemical splash goggles: Goggles designed to shield the eyes from liquid chemical splashes. Their close-fitting design helps prevent splashes from reaching the eyes.
