A period of major growth and influence in U.S. animation, roughly from the late 1920s through the 1960s, shaped by theatrical cartoons, studio systems, and television.

Sound film: Motion pictures in which recorded sound is synchronized with the image. Synchronized dialogue, music, and effects helped make early sound cartoons a major attraction.
Walt Disney: An American animator, producer, and studio founder who shaped popular animation and family entertainment. His studio helped establish the feature-film and character-driven model of the era.

United Productions of America: An American animation studio known for stylized, modernist films and television work. Its graphic design offered a deliberate alternative to Disney-influenced realism.
