Gothenburg

Gothenburg is Sweden’s second-largest city, on the west coast at the mouth of the Göta älv. Its port, canals, and industrial history have shaped its role as a maritime and commercial center.

Göta älv: A river in southwestern Sweden that flows from Lake Vänern through Gothenburg into the Kattegat. Gothenburg grew at the river’s mouth, where inland water routes meet the sea.
