Gothic Revival architecture

An architectural movement that revived medieval Gothic forms, including pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and elaborate tracery, especially from the 18th through early 20th centuries.

Pointed arch: An arch whose two curves meet at a point at its crown. Its vertical emphasis became a defining feature of revived Gothic façades.
Horace Walpole: An English writer and politician who built the Gothic Revival villa Strawberry Hill House. His house helped make Gothic forms fashionable in eighteenth-century Britain.
George Gilbert Scott: A prolific Victorian English architect known for churches, public buildings, and restoration projects. His designs made the style prominent in British civic and religious architecture.
