Goukouni Oueddei

Goukouni Oueddei is a Chadian political and military leader who headed the rebel group FROLINAT and served as president of Chad during the civil war.

Hissène Habré: A Chadian rebel commander who became president after overthrowing Goukouni Oueddei. Their shifting alliance and rivalry defined the struggle for power in Chad.
FROLINAT: A Chadian rebel movement founded in 1966 to oppose the government of François Tombalbaye. Goukouni rose to prominence as a commander within this broad insurgent movement.
Transitional Government of National Unity: A coalition government formed in Chad in 1979 to unite rival factions after the collapse of Félix Malloum’s government. Goukouni became its president, but factional forces quickly undermined its authority.
