Grand Duchy of Tuscany

A state in central Italy from 1569 to 1860, ruled first by the Medici dynasty and later by the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty before annexation by the Kingdom of Italy.

Cosimo I de' Medici: The Medici ruler who became the first Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1569. His elevation established the grand duchy and its ruling dynasty.
