Great Fire of Rome

A major fire that burned across Rome in July 64 CE, destroying large parts of the city during Emperor Nero’s reign.

Tacitus: A Roman senator and historian whose surviving works include an account of Nero’s reign. His Annals provides the fullest surviving narrative of the fire and its aftermath.
