Guan Zhong
Guan Zhong was a Chinese statesman and reformer who served Duke Huan of Qi in the seventh century BCE and helped make Qi a dominant state.
Duke Huan of Qi: A ruler of the state of Qi who led the first major hegemony of the Spring and Autumn period. Guan Zhong served him as chief minister, and their partnership strengthened Qi.
State of Qi: A major state in eastern Zhou China, centered in present-day Shandong. Guan Zhong’s reforms and service to its ruler helped Qi become preeminent.
