Hair straightening

Hair straightening is a styling or treatment process that makes curly or wavy hair straighter, temporarily or for an extended period.

Hair structure: Hair is a fiber made chiefly of keratin, with a cuticle surrounding a cortex that gives it strength and shape. The cortex and its keratin bonds determine how straightening changes a hair fiber.
Blowout (hairstyling): A blowout is a hairstyle created by drying and shaping hair with a blow dryer and brush. Brush tension and warm airflow can smooth hair without a chemical relaxer.

Hair texturizing: Hair texturizing is a styling or chemical process that changes hair’s curl pattern or feel without necessarily making it fully straight. Texturizing loosens or reshapes curls while preserving more texture than straightening.
Disulfide bond: A disulfide bond is a strong covalent link between sulfur atoms in two cysteine residues. Chemical relaxers alter these bonds to make straightening last beyond a wash.
Japanese hair straightening: Japanese hair straightening is a salon process that chemically restructures hair and uses heat to set a straighter shape. It illustrates a more permanent chemical-and-heat treatment.
