Hamster

A small rodent in the subfamily Cricetinae, distinguished by cheek pouches and, in many species, food-hoarding behavior. Hamsters are mostly nocturnal and occur naturally across parts of Europe and Asia.

Cricetinae: A subfamily of rodents that includes hamsters and related species. Hamsters are members of this rodent subfamily.
