Hangul

Hangul is the Korean writing system, created under King Sejong and promulgated in 1446. Its letters represent consonants and vowels, arranged into syllable blocks.

Hangul jamo: The individual consonant and vowel letters that combine to form Hangul syllable blocks. These are the basic letters combined in Hangul’s distinctive written units.
King Sejong: The fourth monarch of Korea’s Joseon dynasty, who sponsored the creation of Hangul. Sejong directed the royal effort that produced the new Korean script.
