Hard-edge painting

Hard-edge painting is an abstract style using flat, unmodulated areas of color divided by sharply defined boundaries. It emphasizes clean geometry and the relationships between colors rather than visible brushwork.

Color field painting: Abstract painting that uses expansive areas of color as its primary expressive element. Both styles foreground color areas, but hard-edge painting makes their boundaries especially crisp.
