Harsha

Harsha was a seventh-century ruler who governed much of northern India from 606 to 647 CE. He expanded his kingdom after the decline of the Gupta empire and supported Buddhist institutions, scholars, and religious assemblies.

Pushyabhuti dynasty: A dynasty based at Thanesar that rose to power in northern India during the sixth and seventh centuries. Harsha inherited its throne after his brother’s death.
Xuanzang: A Chinese Buddhist monk who traveled through India in the seventh century and recorded observations of its rulers and religious life. His account is a major source on Harsha’s court and administration.
