Hayreddin Barbarossa

Hayreddin Barbarossa was an Ottoman corsair and admiral who became grand admiral and helped establish Ottoman naval dominance in the Mediterranean during the 16th century.

Oruç Reis: An Ottoman corsair who ruled Algiers with his brother Hayreddin before dying in battle in 1518. His older brother’s campaigns laid the groundwork for Hayreddin’s rise in North Africa.
