Hendrik Witbooi

Hendrik Witbooi was a Nama leader who resisted German colonial rule in what is now Namibia. He led the ǀKhowesin, a Nama community, and became a central figure in the resistance wars of 1893–1894 and 1904–1905.

Theodor Leutwein: Theodor Leutwein was governor of German South West Africa from 1894 to 1904. He negotiated with Witbooi before German colonial policy shifted toward intensified warfare.
