Herman Boerhaave

Herman Boerhaave (1668–1738) was a Dutch physician, chemist, and teacher whose bedside teaching and systematic approach to medicine influenced physicians across Europe.

Gerard van Swieten: A Dutch physician and Boerhaave’s student who became a leading medical reformer in the Habsburg monarchy. He carried Boerhaave’s clinical teaching into the reform of Austrian medicine.
