Heshen

Heshen (1750–1799) was a Qing dynasty official and favored confidant of the Qianlong Emperor. After the emperor’s death, the Jiaqing Emperor ordered his arrest; Heshen was executed in 1799.

Qianlong Emperor: The Qing emperor who ruled from 1735 to 1796 and made Heshen a powerful court favorite. Qianlong’s favor enabled Heshen’s ascent and shielded him from opposition.
