Hexadecimal color

Hexadecimal color notation represents red, green, and blue channel values with base-16 digits, commonly written as six digits prefixed by a hash sign.

Hexadecimal: A base-16 numeral system using the digits 0–9 and the letters A–F. Each color channel is written as a two-digit base-16 number.
Color channel: One component of a digital color representation, such as red, green, or blue. Each pair of digits in a six-digit code specifies one channel.
HTML color names: A set of named color keywords recognized by HTML and CSS. Named colors provide a readable alternative to hexadecimal values.
HSL and HSV: Cylindrical color models that describe colors using hue and attributes such as saturation and lightness or value. They expose hue and saturation directly, unlike channel-oriented hex codes.
RGB color model: A color model that represents colors through additive combinations of red, green, and blue light. Hexadecimal color notation encodes the three RGB channel values.
RGB triplet: A set of three numeric values specifying red, green, and blue components of a color. A hexadecimal color is a compact encoding of an RGB triplet.
Sass: A stylesheet language that extends CSS with features such as variables and functions. Sass stylesheets commonly store and manipulate hexadecimal color literals.
CIE 1931 color space: A device-independent color space defined by the International Commission on Illumination in 1931. It describes colorimetry beyond the display-oriented RGB values encoded in hex.
Color depth: The number of bits used to represent a color or image's colors. Six hexadecimal digits provide eight bits for each of three color channels.
Bit: The basic unit of digital information, with a value of zero or one. Each hexadecimal digit represents four bits of channel data.
