Hiraizumi

Hiraizumi is a city in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, that served as the political and cultural center of the Ōshū Fujiwara clan in the eleventh and twelfth centuries.

Chūson-ji: A Buddhist temple in Hiraizumi, founded by the Ōshū Fujiwara clan and known for its gilded Konjikidō hall. Its Konjikidō mausoleum embodies the clan’s wealth and Buddhist vision.
Fujiwara no Kiyohira: The founder of the Ōshū Fujiwara dynasty who established Hiraizumi as its center. He made Hiraizumi the seat of a new political and religious order.
