History of Lesotho

The history of Lesotho traces the formation of the Basotho kingdom under Moshoeshoe I, its incorporation as a British protectorate, and its development as an independent state from 1966.

Moshoeshoe I: The founder of the Basotho kingdom who ruled from the early nineteenth century until 1870. His diplomacy and leadership shaped the kingdom that became Lesotho.
