Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh was a Vietnamese revolutionary and statesman who led the Việt Minh and became president of North Vietnam. He helped establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945.

Vo Nguyen Giap: Vo Nguyen Giap was a Vietnamese general who led forces in the wars against France and the United States. Giap commanded the military forces that carried out Ho’s independence strategy.

First Indochina War: The First Indochina War was the 1946–1954 conflict between France and the Viet Minh over control of Vietnam. Ho’s government led the Viet Minh through the war that ended French rule.
Ho Chi Minh City: Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s largest city, formerly known as Saigon. Renaming Saigon after Ho in 1976 linked the unified country’s largest city to his legacy.
