Homo floresiensis

Homo floresiensis is an extinct human species known from fossils on the Indonesian island of Flores. Its small body and brain distinguish it from other known human species.

Liang Bua: A limestone cave on Flores where the best-known Homo floresiensis fossils were discovered. Its excavation produced the remains that established the species.
Hominin: A member of the human evolutionary lineage after its split from the lineage leading to chimpanzees. Homo floresiensis belongs to the human lineage, though its precise placement is debated.
