Hōryū-ji

A Buddhist temple complex in Ikaruga, Nara Prefecture, Japan, containing some of the world’s oldest surviving wooden buildings. Its precincts preserve architecture and artworks from early Japanese Buddhism.

Hōryū-ji Sai-in Garan: The western precinct of Hōryū-ji, centered on the Kondō and five-story pagoda. Its central buildings form the temple complex’s best-known architectural ensemble.
