Howqua

Howqua was the English name of Wu Bingjian (1769–1843), a leading Cantonese merchant who traded with Western firms through Guangzhou under the Qing dynasty.

Cohong: The Qing-era guild of licensed Chinese merchants who managed foreign trade at Guangzhou. Howqua led one of the guild’s most powerful merchant houses.
