Huang Xing

Huang Xing (1874–1916) was a Chinese revolutionary and military leader who helped overthrow the Qing dynasty and establish the Republic of China.

Sun Yat-sen: Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary who helped establish the Republic of China and became its provisional president. Huang Xing’s closest political ally, he co-founded the Tongmenghui and shared leadership of the revolutionary movement.
Second Guangzhou Uprising: The 1911 revolt in Guangzhou, also called the Yellow Flower Mound Uprising, was an unsuccessful anti-Qing insurrection. Huang Xing led the assault, which ended in defeat but became a landmark in revolutionary commemoration.
Tongmenghui: The Tongmenghui was a Chinese revolutionary alliance founded in 1905 to overthrow the Qing dynasty and establish a republic. Huang Xing co-founded and helped lead this alliance with Sun Yat-sen.
Republic of China: The Republic of China was founded in 1912 after the Qing dynasty fell and governed mainland China until 1949. Huang Xing’s revolutionary work helped bring this republic into existence.
Song Jiaoren: Song Jiaoren was a Chinese revolutionary and politician who helped organize the Kuomintang and championed parliamentary government. He worked with Huang Xing in the revolutionary movement and the early Republic’s Kuomintang.
Wuchang Uprising: The Wuchang Uprising was the October 1911 military revolt that began the Xinhai Revolution against Qing rule. Its success triggered the revolution whose outcome Huang Xing had long worked toward.
Huaxinghui: The Huaxinghui was a revolutionary organization founded in Hunan in 1904 to oppose Qing rule. Huang Xing helped found this organization before joining the broader Tongmenghui.
Provisional Government of the Republic of China: The Provisional Government of the Republic of China was the first republican government, established in Nanjing in 1912. Huang Xing served as a senior military official in the government formed after the revolution.
Cai E: Cai E was a Chinese military leader who opposed Yuan Shikai’s attempt to restore monarchy. Like Huang Xing, he became a prominent military opponent of Yuan Shikai.
Xinhai Revolution: The Xinhai Revolution was the 1911–1912 uprising that ended the Qing dynasty and founded the Republic of China. Huang Xing’s campaigns formed part of this revolution’s military struggle.
