Huayna Capac

Huayna Capac was the eleventh Sapa Inca, ruling the Inca Empire during its expansion across the Andes in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. His death preceded a succession crisis that weakened the empire before the Spanish conquest.

Atahualpa: Atahualpa was an Inca ruler who won the civil war against his half-brother Huáscar before Francisco Pizarro captured him. Huayna Capac’s son whose victory in the succession war left the empire divided.

Ninan Cuyochi: Ninan Cuyochi was a son of Huayna Capac, named as a successor but reported to have died before his father. His reported death helped turn Huayna Capac’s own succession into a crisis.
Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire: The Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire was the sixteenth-century campaign that brought the empire under Spanish control. The conquest came soon after Huayna Capac’s death, amid dynastic conflict and epidemic disease.
