Hugo de Vries

Hugo de Vries (1848–1935) was a Dutch botanist and geneticist who developed mutation theory and helped bring Mendel’s laws of inheritance to wider attention.

Gregor Mendel: An Austrian monk and scientist whose pea-plant experiments established foundational laws of inheritance. De Vries independently reached inheritance rules resembling Mendel’s and helped revive Mendel’s neglected paper.
