Human back

The posterior surface of the human torso, extending from the shoulders to the pelvis. It includes the vertebral column and muscles, bones, nerves, and other tissues that support movement and posture.

Vertebral column: The segmented column of vertebrae that supports the body and protects the spinal cord. It forms the central bony framework of the back.

Rib cage: The thoracic vertebrae, ribs, and sternum that enclose and protect the chest organs. Its ribs attach to the upper back and help define the thorax.
Spinal reflex: A rapid, involuntary response coordinated through neural circuits in the spinal cord. Reflex pathways help adjust trunk muscles without waiting for deliberate action.
