Hungarian irredentism

Hungarian irredentism is a political movement seeking to revise the Treaty of Trianon and recover territories transferred from Hungary after World War I.

Treaty of Trianon: The 1920 peace treaty that defined Hungary’s borders after World War I and transferred much of its former territory to neighboring states. Its territorial provisions became the central grievance irredentists sought to overturn.
Miklós Horthy: Hungarian regent who ruled from 1920 to 1944. His regime placed revision of Trianon at the center of national politics.
Pál Teleki: Hungarian geographer and politician who served as prime minister in 1920–1921 and 1939–1941. He supported revision while navigating Hungary’s dependence on Germany and Italy.
Hungarian occupation of Carpatho-Ukraine: Hungary’s 1939 occupation and annexation of Carpatho-Ukraine, formerly part of Czechoslovakia. It extended revision beyond the territories awarded through the Vienna arbitrations.
