Hungarian–Romanian War

The 1919 conflict between Romania and the Hungarian Soviet Republic culminated in Romanian forces capturing Budapest on August 4. It unfolded amid postwar border disputes and the collapse of Hungary’s short-lived communist government.

Battle of the Tisza: The July 1919 fighting along the Tisza River between Romanian forces and the Hungarian Red Army. The Hungarian crossing of the river preceded Romania’s counteroffensive toward Budapest.
