Huns

The Huns were a nomadic people who built an empire across parts of Europe and Asia during the fourth and fifth centuries, reaching their greatest power under Attila.

Xiongnu: A confederation of nomadic peoples that dominated parts of the eastern Eurasian steppe from the third century BCE to the first century CE. Proposed links between the Xiongnu and Huns remain disputed, despite similarities in names and steppe warfare.
Composite bow: A bow made from layers of materials such as wood, horn, and sinew, designed for strength and compactness. Its range and power suited mounted archers who could attack while moving.
Attila: The Hunnic ruler who led a powerful empire across parts of Europe from 434 until his death in 453. Attila's campaigns and diplomacy mark the high point of Hunnic power.

Bleda: A Hunnic ruler who shared power with his brother Attila until his death around 445. His joint rule shows that Attila's rise began within a Hunnic royal partnership.
Hunnic invasion of Italy: Attila's 452 campaign into northern Italy, which threatened Roman cities before his forces withdrew. It demonstrated the Huns' ability to penetrate deep into the Western Roman Empire.
Gothic War (376–382): A conflict between the Goths and the Eastern Roman Empire that began after Gothic groups crossed the Danube in 376. The Huns' westward expansion contributed to the crisis that brought Goths across the Roman frontier.
