Hyaenodon

Hyaenodon was an extinct genus of carnivorous mammals in Hyaenodontidae, widespread across Eurasia and North America during the Eocene and Oligocene. Its species ranged from small forms to some of the largest land predators of their time.

Hyaenodontidae: An extinct family of predatory mammals whose members had distinctive shearing cheek teeth. Hyaenodon belongs to this family, which was separate from the lineage of modern carnivorans.
Hyaenodon horridus: A large North American species of Hyaenodon from the Oligocene. It represents the genus among the later predators of North America.
