A hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) is a compound containing hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, and carbon. HCFCs were adopted as transitional substitutes for chlorofluorocarbons because they generally deplete stratospheric ozone less, though they still damage it.
