Identity

Identity is the set of qualities and continuities by which a person or thing is recognized as itself across time and change.

Personal identity: The conditions under which a person remains the same individual over time. It narrows identity to the persistence of a person through change.
Persistence: The continuation of an entity or property through time. Identity over time depends on some account of what persists.
Ship of Theseus: A philosophical puzzle asking whether a ship remains the same after all its parts are replaced. It makes identity through material change a concrete problem.

Memory: The capacity to retain and retrieve information or experience. Memory can connect present self-understanding with a personal past.
