Igor Sikorsky

Igor Sikorsky was a Russian-American aviation engineer who designed pioneering fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, including the first successful mass-produced American helicopter, the Sikorsky R-4.

Sikorsky R-4: The first helicopter produced in quantity in the United States, used by the U.S. military during World War II. Sikorsky’s design became the first American helicopter manufactured in quantity.
