Indra

Indra is a major Vedic deity associated with storms, warfare, kingship, and the defeat of the serpent Vritra. He remains a prominent figure in Hindu traditions and Buddhist cosmology.

Rigveda: The oldest collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns, composed in ancient India. Its hymns praise Indra more often than any other deity.
Indra and Vritra: A Vedic myth in which Indra kills Vritra and releases waters previously held back. This myth explains Indra’s storm power through a victory over cosmic obstruction.

Soma: A ritual drink and deity celebrated in the Vedas, associated with inspiration and divine power. Vedic hymns connect Soma with Indra’s strength and victories.
Ashvamedha: An ancient Indian horse sacrifice associated with royal sovereignty and imperial ambition. Its rites invoke Indra among the powers connected to kingship and victory.
