Informbiro period

The Informbiro period was Yugoslavia’s 1948–mid-1950s conflict with the Soviet-led Cominform, marked by political repression, diplomatic isolation, and a break with Stalin.

Tito–Stalin split: The 1948 rupture between Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin over Yugoslavia’s independent policies. This break triggered the conflict and defined the period.
Political prisoners in Yugoslavia: People imprisoned by Yugoslav authorities for political opposition or alleged threats to the socialist state. Thousands faced detention for alleged Cominform sympathies during the purge.
