Knowra Ingrid Thulin Ingrid Thulin Ingrid Thulin (1926–2004) was a Swedish actress and film director, known for psychologically intense roles in several films by Ingmar Bergman, including Wild Strawberries and The Silence.
The Silence : Ingmar Bergman’s 1963 film follows two sisters and a boy in an unnamed city as war looms nearby. Thulin plays Ester, whose illness and isolation sharpen the film’s conflict between the sisters.
