Input device

An input device is hardware that sends data or control signals to a computer. It can capture text, movement, images, sound, or other forms of input.

Keyboard: A device that enters text and commands through an array of keys. It converts key presses into text and control signals.
Human–computer interaction: The study and design of interaction between people and computer systems. Input devices are one side of the interaction between people and computers.
Webcam: A digital camera designed to capture video for a computer or network. It supplies live images for video calls, streaming, and recording.
Output device: Hardware that presents information from a computer to people or other systems. It carries information outward, whereas an input device sends information inward.
Computer mouse: A handheld pointing device that moves a cursor and selects items on a screen. It translates hand movement and button presses into pointer control.
Sensor: A component that detects a physical property and produces a measurable signal. Many input devices rely on sensors to detect movement, light, sound, or touch.
Barcode reader: A device that reads encoded information from printed or displayed barcodes. It enters product or tracking identifiers without typing them.
Input/output device: Hardware that both sends data to a computer and receives data from it. Some devices, such as touchscreens, combine input and output functions.
Image scanner: A device that captures a physical image or document as digital data. It turns marks on paper into data a computer can process.
Analog-to-digital converter: An electronic circuit that converts a continuous analog signal into digital values. It digitizes continuous signals from devices such as microphones and cameras.
