Inside Passage

The Inside Passage is a sheltered coastal sea route through the waterways of British Columbia and southeastern Alaska, linking the Pacific Northwest with Alaska.

Alexander Archipelago: An island group in southeastern Alaska extending along the North American Pacific coast. Its islands form much of the northern route's sheltered channel network.
Alaska Marine Highway System: A state-operated ferry network connecting communities in southeastern Alaska and beyond. Its ferries make the Inside Passage a public transportation corridor.

British Columbia Ferries: A Canadian ferry operator linking coastal communities and Vancouver Island with mainland British Columbia. Its services connect settlements along the southern part of the route.
Haida: An Indigenous people whose homeland includes Haida Gwaii and parts of southeastern Alaska. Haida maritime knowledge and travel connect to the passage's southern coastal region.
Prince Rupert: A port city on the northern coast of British Columbia, near the southern end of the Inside Passage. Its harbor serves passenger and freight traffic moving along the route.
Panama Canal: An artificial waterway across Panama connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It is a constructed ocean link, unlike the Inside Passage's natural coastal channels.
