Institutional Revolutionary Party

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is a Mexican political party that governed Mexico for most of 1929–2000 and again from 2012 to 2018. Its long dominance rested on a centralized system linking the party, the state, and organized social groups.

Mexican corporatism: A political system that incorporates organized social groups into state decision-making under controlled representation. The PRI linked labor, peasants, and other groups to the state through party-affiliated sectors.
