Insular dwarfism

Insular dwarfism is the evolutionary reduction in body size of a population isolated on an island, often shaped by limited resources, predation, and ecological change.

Island rule: A proposed pattern in which large animals become smaller and small animals become larger on islands. It describes the broader size shifts of which insular dwarfism is one direction.
Homo floresiensis: An extinct hominin species known from fossils on the Indonesian island of Flores. Its small stature is often discussed in connection with island evolution.
